New Image Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center offers nose surgery to patients from Orlando and nearby locations.
No doubt the nose is one of the face’s most prominent features. As a result, nasal aesthetics are something that a good number of men and women would like to improve. If you are unhappy with the size or shape of your nose, then you could benefit from nose surgery at New Image Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center in Orlando. Also called rhinoplasty, this procedure can be combined with septoplasty to correct the interior chambers of your nose and effectively restore free breathing.
Whether you want to change your profile or breathe more easily, the modern nose surgery techniques used by Dr. Jan V. Karlin provide you with a safe means for achieving dramatic results. The New Image Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center staff invites patients from near and far to set up an initial consultation to learn more about rhinoplasty. We welcome men and women from various Central Florida areas, such as Orlando, Altamonte Springs, Kissimmee, Apopka, Sanford and Winter Park.
For individuals who are interested in nose surgery, it is a good idea to look at some examples of what the operation can do. Dr. Karlin has a collection of Orlando rhinoplasty before and after pictures that you can inspect during your preliminary appointment.
Is Nose Surgery Right for Me?
If you are considering nose surgery, then you should wait until your facial growth is complete, usually at about age 15. As a rule, patients are interested in changing the profile, the width, the tip or the nostrils’ shape. All of these can be tended to with our rhinoplasty in Orlando. In addition to taking out undesirable bumps, Dr. Karlin can make the nose smaller, larger, narrower, shorter, or longer. He can also make your nose more symmetrical to your other features. The goal of rhinoplasty is to give you a natural-looking nose that is well-suited to your face and more aesthetically pleasing.
How is Nose Surgery Performed?
For your rhinoplasty, our Orlando surgical staff will place you under general anesthesia, which means you will sleep through the operation. The operation usually takes two to three hours, although complicated procedures may take longer.
Most commonly, nose surgery is performed through tiny incisions made just inside the nostrils. During the surgery, the skin of the nose is separated from its supporting framework of bone and cartilage, which Dr. Karlin then sculpts into the desired shape. He may reduce some areas while building up others with your own cartilage and bones or other approved materials. The nature of the sculpting will depend on your problem and the operative plan. Finally, the skin is re-draped over the new framework. Tip grafts may also be used over the new framework. Tiny sutures are used to close the skin, and a post-operative splint is applied. Patients who undergo a rhinoplasty often get chin implants as well.
What is the Recovery Process for Nose Surgery?
A splint will be worn for the first week following your nose surgery in Orlando. Some bruising and swelling is expected for the first few weeks. Once your splint is removed, camouflage makeup can be applied. You can usually return to work about 10 days following surgery. Over the next several months, there will be a subtle but ongoing natural remodeling process as your nose becomes more sculpted and refined.
It is important to remember that any surgical procedure comes with inherent risks, such as the effects of anesthesia, infection, bleeding, swelling and discomfort. Dr. Karlin will discuss these and other possible complications thoroughly with you during your consultation.
