The Starlux represents Palomar’s top-of-the-line pulsed light system and includes several key technologies that make for safer, more effective, and more comfortable treatments for skin rejuvenation. The StarLux with its special contact cooling hand piece keeps the temperature of the skin low, thereby providing more comfort for the patient. The system's energy is emitted in a smooth pulse form rather than short bursts. With the smooth delivery, there is less of a chance for damage to surrounding areas. Palomar’s unique smooth pulse technology ensures a constant uniform beam which allows faster results, as well as, increased patient safety and comfort.

And because Dr. Karlin likes proof of results (not marketing hype) before offering any new treatment, he conducted several "technology tests" of IPL™ on some of his friends, family members, and coworkers before deciding to make this available to his patients. He used standardized clinical photographs and the test patients self-reported experience and outcomes to gauge the results. The response from these test patients was overwhelmingly positive.
